Power and Water for Families Act of 2026

Introduced·6/24/26

Power and Water for Families Act of 2026 aims to facilitate data center development, protect ratepayers, and encourage water reuse.

The Power and Water for Families Act of 2026 aims to facilitate the responsible development of data centers and related infrastructure, protect existing ratepayers from the shifting of incremental infrastructure costs attributable to large-load facilities, and encourage investment in water reuse. The bill amends the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 to establish a federal standard for electric utilities to consider mechanisms for large-load customers to develop, acquire, finance, or contractually dedicate new or incremental generation resources.
