Prohibits former Members and elected officers of Congress from lobbying Congress after leaving office.
The BLAST Act amends the federal criminal code to prohibit former Members and elected officers of Congress from lobbying Congress at any time after leaving office. This includes knowingly making any communication or appearing before Congress on behalf of another person, except the United States, in connection with any matter on which the former official seeks action by Congress. The bill also makes technical and conforming amendments to the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995. The changes apply to individuals who leave office on or after the enactment of this Act.
