The Sergeant Rafael Peralta Medal of Honor Authorization Act seeks to honor Sergeant Rafael Peralta, a United States Marine Corps member, by authorizing the President to award him the Medal of Honor. Peralta, who served with Company A, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, was mortally wounded during a house-clearing operation in Fallujah, Iraq, on November 15, 2004. Despite his fatal injuries, Peralta shielded his fellow Marines from a grenade blast, saving their lives.
