The Veterans Affairs Heritage Act of 2026 establishes a Veterans Affairs History Office within the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Office will be responsible for collecting, preserving, and providing access to historical records, artifacts, and cultural resources of the Department. It will also tell the comprehensive story of the Department to veterans, government agencies, and the public. The Office will be located in Dayton, Ohio, and will include a national history center. The Office will be headed by the Chief Historian, who will report directly to the Secretary.
