Introduced·5/20/26

CHIERS Act of 2026 provides grants to improve transportation access for substance use disorder treatment.

The CHIERS Act of 2026 directs the Secretaries of Health and Human Services and Housing and Urban Development to award grants to eligible entities. These grants aim to improve access to, develop, or expand services that provide transportation to or from substance use disorder treatment or supportive services. The act defines "covered individual" as someone with a substance use disorder who is experiencing homelessness, resides in a low-income community, or in a community where transportation is a barrier to health care access.
