The Volunteer First Responder Housing Act expands eligibility for certain housing programs for qualified volunteer first responders. Qualified volunteer first responders can apply for discounted home prices through the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and a deduction in annual income under the Secretary of Agriculture. To qualify, responders must submit a verification letter from their employer, certifying their volunteer status and intention to continue serving for at least a year.
