The Accelerating Forest Management Act excludes salvage harvesting activities from environmental assessments and impact statements under the National Environmental Policy Act. This applies to dead or dying trees from disturbances like fire or disease within specific acreage limits. The bill also extends the Forest Ecosystem Health and Recovery Fund through 2033. Salvage harvesting activities must comply with land use planning decisions and include measures to protect resources like riparian areas and prevent soil erosion.
