Sanctions foreign persons employing forced labor or child labor in cobalt mining.

The SHIELD Act imposes sanctions on foreign persons employing forced labor or child labor in the cobalt mining sector of a foreign country. Sanctions include asset blocking and inadmissibility to the United States. The President may waive sanctions if it is important to national security. The authority to impose sanctions expires seven years after enactment. Exceptions apply for humanitarian assistance and compliance with international obligations.
