The Second Look Act of 2026 enables incarcerated individuals to petition a federal court for a review of sentences longer than 10 years, provided they are not a danger to the safety of any person or the community and have shown readiness for reentry. The court may reduce the term of imprisonment if the defendant has served at least 10 years and is not a danger to the community. The court must consider factors such as the defendant's age, the nature of the offense, and the defendant's readiness for reentry. A rebuttable presumption of release applies to defendants aged 50 or older.
