The Public Lands Workforce Stability Act prohibits any reduction in force or involuntary separation at the Department of the Interior and the U.S. Forest Service from the date of enactment until September 30, 2030. This includes employees in the competitive service, career employees in the excepted service, and career appointees in the Senior Executive Service. Federal funds cannot be used for such actions without prior notification and approval from the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees.
