The Rural Child Care Facility Expansion Act establishes a low-interest loan program to support the renovation, retrofitting, expansion, and adaptation of structures to increase the availability of child care in rural communities. The Secretary of Agriculture, through the Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development, may make these loans to eligible child care providers in rural areas. The act defines a "rural community" as a census designated place with a population of less than 20,000.
