Motor Vehicle Flammability Standards Study Act of 2026 directs NHTSA to study flammability hazards in motor vehicles.

The Motor Vehicle Flammability Standards Study Act of 2026 mandates the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to conduct a study on flammability hazards in motor vehicles. The study will identify safety risks to occupants and first responders from flammable materials in vehicles and analyze chemicals, materials, and technologies used to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302. The Administrator will coordinate with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, provide a public comment period, and submit a report within 30 months.
