The Commission on Natural Disaster Risk Management and Insurance Act establishes a nonpartisan commission to examine risks posed by natural disasters and means to mitigate associated financial costs. The commission will assess exposure to various natural disasters, insurance market capacity, risk-sharing mechanisms, and the role of federal, state, and local governments in risk mitigation. It will also evaluate the impact of federal and state laws on insurance availability and affordability, and the role of innovation in financial services.
