The FAITH Act, or Freedom Against Imposed Theology Harms Act, prohibits the imposition of fees, fines, surcharges, penalties, or other financial obligations based on religious participation or membership. Violators face fines and imprisonment. It also prohibits denying goods or services for nonpayment of such fees, with similar penalties. The Act classifies nonpayment of prohibited fees as a RICO offense, subjecting violators to additional penalties. The Act takes effect 30 days after enactment.
