H.R.8299

Autofill Act of 2026

Introduced·4/15/26

Autofill Act of 2026 establishes a program for pre-populating tax forms with taxpayer information.

The Autofill Act of 2026 amends the Internal Revenue Code to create a program where taxpayers can download pre-populated tax forms. These forms, including the 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ, will be available in both printable and software-readable formats. The Secretary of the Treasury must provide these forms by February 15, 2027, and annually thereafter. The forms will be populated with information reported under chapter 61 and section 232 of the Social Security Act. Taxpayers must acknowledge their responsibility for the accuracy of their returns before downloading.
