Opposes IMF quota increases for countries with certain exchange rate practices.
The Exchange Rate Accountability Act of 2026 requires the United States to oppose any quota increase at the International Monetary Fund for member countries that employ certain exchange rate practices. The Secretary of the Treasury must submit a report to Congress at least 7 days before considering a quota increase for one of the 10 largest shareholders in the Fund. The report must determine if the member meets criteria, including maintaining transparent exchange rate policies and publishing credible balance of payments data.
