Prohibits harassment of individuals exercising religious freedom at places of worship within 100 feet.
The SACRED Act amends title 18, United States Code, to prohibit harassment of persons lawfully exercising or seeking to exercise the First Amendment right of religious freedom at a place of religious worship, within a distance of 100 feet or closer. It allows aggrieved individuals or entities to seek civil remedies, including injunctive relief and compensatory damages. The Attorney General of the United States and state attorneys general can also bring civil actions on behalf of those affected.
