Encourages Hungary to end its reliance on Russian energy and prevent obstruction of Ukraine assistance.
The BLOCK PUTIN Act aims to hold Hungary accountable for actions that undermine U.S. national security interests. It mandates sanctions against Hungarian officials who obstruct Ukraine assistance or facilitate Russian energy imports. Sanctions include blocking property, inadmissibility to the U.S., and visa revocation. Exceptions apply for humanitarian aid and intelligence activities. The President may waive sanctions for up to 180 days if deemed vital to U.S. national security. The Act also requires a report on U.S. facilitation of Hungarian purchases of Russian oil and gas.
