The BETS OFF Act bans wagering on specified events, including terrorism, assassinations, and wars.

The BETS OFF Act, or Banning Event Trading on Sensitive Operations and Federal Functions Act, prohibits any person from placing, accepting, or facilitating the placement or acceptance of a wager regarding specified events. These include acts of terrorism, assassinations, wars, and other events not primarily financial, commercial, or economic in nature. The act also amends the Commodity Exchange Act and other federal laws to include these prohibited activities. The Attorney General can bring civil actions for injunctive relief against violators. The act takes effect 30 days after its enactment.
