The BETS OFF Act prohibits any person from placing, accepting, or facilitating the placement or acceptance of a wager on specified events. These include acts of terrorism, assassinations, wars, and other non-financial events controlled by a government or known in advance. The Attorney General can bring civil actions for injunctive relief against violators. The Act also amends other federal laws to include these prohibitions. The Act takes effect 30 days after its enactment.
