Stop Unfair Electricity Prices Act restricts financial aid to electric utilities charging high rates.
The Stop Unfair Electricity Prices Act mandates that the Secretary of Energy cannot provide financial assistance to regulated investor-owned electric utilities that charge residential consumers a rate above the January 1, 2026 rate for one year after enactment. For the subsequent two years, the Secretary can only provide aid if the utility does not increase the total compensation of its five highest-paid employees and reduces their compensation by twice the percentage point increase of the new rate.
