The HBCU AI Research Leadership Act amends the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Act of 2020 to ensure that at least 10% of financial assistance awarded for national artificial intelligence research institutes goes to eligible historically Black colleges and universities. These institutions can partner with other higher education institutions to establish and support these institutes. The bill also defines "historically Black college and university" based on the Higher Education Act of 1965.
