H.R.7818

Allows interstate shipment of meat inspected under qualifying state programs.

The American Meat Freedom Act amends the Federal Meat Inspection Act to permit interstate shipment of meat and meat food products inspected and passed under qualifying state programs. This change aims to expand market access for small and mid-sized ranchers, increase competition in meat processing, strengthen domestic food supply resilience, and maintain food safety standards equivalent to federal inspection. The act requires the Secretary of Agriculture to promulgate regulations within 90 days of enactment to implement these changes.
