The Protecting Our Produce Act amends the Specialty Crops Competitiveness Act of 2004 to establish a pilot program for the Secretary of Agriculture. This program provides annual crop loss payments to producers of seasonal and perishable crops, such as asparagus, bell peppers, blueberries, cucumbers, and squash, if the effective price of the crop is less than the reference price and the crop loss is caused by imports. Payments are calculated based on the difference between the reference price and the effective price, multiplied by the crop loss.
