The Gun Owner Registration Information Protection Act prohibits federal agencies from funding or supporting the establishment or maintenance of state firearm ownership databases. These databases list firearms lawfully owned or possessed by individuals or individuals who lawfully own or possess firearms. The prohibition does not apply to databases that list firearms reported as lost or stolen or individuals who have reported their firearms as lost or stolen.
