Republic of Georgia Sovereignty Act

Prohibits U.S. recognition of South Ossetia or Abkhazia sovereignty claims within Georgia.

The Republic of Georgia Sovereignty Act establishes U.S. policy to not recognize the claims of sovereignty of South Ossetia or Abkhazia within the Republic of Georgia. Federal departments and agencies are prohibited from taking any action or extending any assistance that implies recognition of these claims or any related successor entities.
