Jaime’s Law aims to prevent the purchase of ammunition by prohibited purchasers.
Jaime’s Law amends the National Instant Criminal Background Check System Improvement Amendments Act of 2007 and the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2012. It prohibits unlicensed individuals from transferring ammunition to other unlicensed individuals unless a licensed importer, manufacturer, or dealer first takes possession of the ammunition. Exceptions include transfers at shooting ranges, for hunting, trapping, or fishing, and between certain family members. The law also makes technical and conforming amendments to ensure consistency across related statutes.
