The After Hours Child Care Act aims to establish and expand child care programs for parents who work nontraditional hours. The bill amends the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 1990 to create a pilot program. The Secretary of Health and Human Services will award competitive grants to eligible entities for expanding child care programs. These programs serve families where a parent works nontraditional hours, defined as before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m. on a weekday, on a Saturday or Sunday, or within 7 days before required attendance.
