Directs the Secretary of Agriculture to use specific data sets for determining eligibility for indemnity payments under the Hurricane Insurance.
The Farmers’ Assistance and Immediate Disaster Relief Act amends the Federal Crop Insurance Act to require the Secretary of Agriculture to use specific data sets when determining eligibility for indemnity payments under the Hurricane Insurance Protection-Wind Index endorsement. Beginning with crop year 2027, the Secretary must use the IBTrACS data set or an alternative data set if the IBTrACS data is incomplete. The alternative data set must be collected by a weather station compliant with National Weather Service standards.
