The PETSAFE Act of 2026 amends the Post-Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act to enhance emergency preparedness and response efforts for companion.

The PETSAFE Act of 2026 amends the Post-Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act of 2006 to support emergency preparedness and response efforts for companion animals. It allows states, local, and tribal governments to use grant funds for activities such as purchasing collapsible crates, companion animal mobile equipment trailers, pet supplies, veterinary medical supplies, emergency sheltering equipment, emergency generators, and disaster response software. The bill also increases the federal cost-share for certain emergency management and response activities to 90 percent.
