Allows female student athletes to sue institutions and associations for damages if they permit biologically male athletes to compete in women's.
The Riley Gaines Act authorizes female student athletes to file civil actions against institutions of higher education and athletic associations that negligently or recklessly allow biologically male athletes to compete in women's sports. This can result in physical injury to the female athletes due to the physiological advantages of male athletes. Successful plaintiffs can seek damages, including the value of lost scholarships, and reasonable attorney's fees.
