The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development will establish this program to award grants to public housing agencies for purchasing, installing, repairing, or replacing security and safety items. These items include security systems, fencing, lighting, emergency alarms, window bars, deadbolt locks, and doors. The bill also specifies that grants cannot exceed $250,000 per fiscal year unless the agency is categorized as extra large or has more than 5,000 units.
