H.R.7092

RAYS Act Raising Awareness for Youth Suicide Prevention Act

Introduced·1/15/26

Requires local educational agencies to include mental health and suicide prevention information on student identification cards.

The RAYS Act amends the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to mandate that local educational agencies include contact information for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and the Crisis Text Line on student identification cards. If these services become unavailable, the Secretary of Education can designate alternative services. The bill also allows for additional mental health resources to be included on the cards and requires outreach efforts to inform students, parents, and school personnel about these resources.
