Public Health Nursing Act to establish, expand, and sustain a public health nursing workforce.
The Public Health Nursing Act amends the Public Health Service Act to require the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish, expand, and sustain a public health nursing workforce. The Secretary will make grants to State, local, and territorial public health departments. Priority will be given to applicants serving areas with high rates of chronic disease, infant mortality, or maternal morbidity and mortality. Recipients may use grant funds for recruiting, hiring, and training public health nurses, medical supplies, and administrative costs.
