Grants to support firearm destruction activities by states, tribes, and local governments.

The Restoring Trust in Public Safety Act authorizes the Attorney General to award grants to states, tribal governments, and local governments for firearm destruction activities. Eligible entities can use the grants for purchasing or maintaining equipment for firearm destruction, contracting with businesses for firearm destruction services, and training staff. The Attorney General must set aside one-third of the total funding for applicants representing metropolitan or rural areas. The Act authorizes $15,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2026 through 2031.
