The ROUTE Act amends title 49, United States Code, to allow eligible drivers under 21 to operate commercial motor vehicles in interstate commerce within a 150 air-mile radius of their normal work reporting location. An eligible driver must hold a commercial driver’s license limited to intrastate operation, be at least 18 but less than 21 years old, and meet specific conditions including a 14-hour limit on interstate travel and a 10-hour off-duty period between shifts.
