Bus Operator Safety and Security Act mandates safety barriers for new fixed route buses purchased with federal funds.

The Bus Operator Safety and Security Act amends title 49 of the United States Code to establish safety requirements for operator workstations on new fixed route buses. Specifically, it mandates that these workstations must reach from the bus floor to the ceiling, fully enclose the workstation to prevent unwanted entry, and not obstruct the operator's view of the exterior. This applies unless a labor organization representing the majority of the frontline workforce agrees to waive this requirement. The provisions take effect two years after the enactment of this Act.
