Introduced·12/11/25

Nuclear Plant Decommissioning Act of 2025 amends the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to enhance consultation with state, tribal, and local governments.

The Nuclear Plant Decommissioning Act of 2025 amends the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to require consultation with state, tribal, and local governments before submitting a post-shutdown decommissioning activities report (PSDAR) or license transfer application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The NRC must consider state, tribal, and local concerns when approving a PSDAR or license transfer. The Act also mandates the NRC to establish a grant program for community advisory boards, which aim to foster communication between licensees and affected communities.
