FOSTER Act Furthering Opioid Services, Training, and Education Resources Act

FOSTER Act provides grants to support opioid abuse prevention and treatment services for children, caregivers, and kinship care families.

The FOSTER Act amends the 21st Century Cures Act to support state and local agencies in their response to the opioid abuse crisis. It provides grants for opioid abuse prevention and treatment services, including workforce recruitment and training, health care services, and foster and adoptive parent recruitment and training. The bill defines kinship caregivers as relatives of a child who live with the child and have a legal relationship or are raising the child informally. Funding is authorized for fiscal years 2028 through 2033.
