The Regional Leadership in Wildland Fire Research Act of 2025 establishes regional wildland fire research centers to coordinate research efforts and improve wildland fire management. The act mandates the establishment of at least eight regional centers at institutions of higher education or land-grant colleges and universities. Each center will develop technologies and tools to predict and monitor wildland fires, improve data management protocols, and support land management activities. The act also establishes Regional Advisory Boards to provide expertise and advice to the regional centers.
