Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention Act of 2025 provides Medicare coverage for blood-based dementia screening tests.

The Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention Act of 2025 amends title XVIII of the Social Security Act to include Medicare coverage for blood-based dementia screening tests. These tests, which detect pre-symptomatic and early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, must be cleared under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The bill defines these tests as genomic sequencing blood or blood product tests, or other equivalent tests determined by the Secretary. The coverage will be effective from January 1, 2028.
