The Mexican Energy Trade Enforcement Act mandates the United States Trade Representative to take specific actions to ensure Mexico adheres to its obligations under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). These actions include requesting a dispute resolution panel with Mexico under the USMCA, initiating an investigation under the Trade Act of 1974, or requiring Mexico to provide non-discriminatory access for U.S. energy companies during the first joint review of the USMCA.
