The PARA Educators Act directs the Secretary of Education to implement a grant program for state educational agencies to assist in recruiting and retaining paraprofessionals in public schools and preschools. States can reserve up to 5% of their allotment for administrative activities and statewide support efforts. Eligible entities, including local educational agencies and educational service agencies, can apply for subgrants to support recruitment and retention activities. Priority is given to entities serving more children from low-income families or high-need schools.
