The Closing the Meal Gap Act of 2025 amends the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to adjust the calculation of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits using the low-cost food plan. This change replaces the thrifty food plan with the low-cost food plan, which is determined and adjusted by the Secretary. The bill also modifies the standard medical expense deduction and eliminates the cap on excess shelter expenses. Additionally, it mandates the reevaluation of the market baskets of the low-cost food plan every five years, starting from December 31, 2029.
