Transit Funding Flexibility Act allows urbanized area formula grant funds to cover public transportation operating costs.
The Transit Funding Flexibility Act amends title 49 of the United States Code to allow recipients of urbanized area formula grant funds to use these funds for operating costs of equipment and facilities in public transportation. The bill also mandates that recipients certify their maintenance of effort for these operating costs annually. If a recipient fails to maintain effort, the Secretary of Transportation will reduce their grant by one-third in the subsequent fiscal year.
