Establishes a Wildland Fire Management Casualty Assistance Program to aid next-of-kin of firefighters and wildland fire support personnel.
The Ensuring Casualty Assistance for our Firefighters Act mandates the Secretary of the Interior to create a Wildland Fire Management Casualty Assistance Program. This program will provide support to the next-of-kin of firefighters and wildland fire support personnel who are critically injured, killed, or hospitalized due to line-of-duty injuries or illnesses. The program includes initial and subsequent notifications to next-of-kin, reimbursement for travel expenses, centralized case management, and data collection on casualty assistance quality.
