NOPAIN for Veterans Act

Introduced·7/17/25

NOPAIN for Veterans Act ensures the Department of Veterans Affairs provides non-opioid pain medications to veterans.

The NOPAIN for Veterans Act amends title 38 of the United States Code to mandate the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to include non-opioid pain management drugs or biological products in the National Formulary of the Department of Veterans Affairs. These products must be approved by the Food and Drug Administration to reduce postoperative pain or produce postsurgical or regional analgesia without acting on the body’s opioid receptors.
