Downwinder Commemoration Act of 2025

Introduced·7/2/25

Downwinder Commemoration Act of 2025 honors New Mexico Downwinder communities with plaques.

The Downwinder Commemoration Act of 2025 mandates the placement of plaques by the Secretary of the Army, the Secretary of the Air Force, and the Secretary of the Interior to honor the Downwinder communities of New Mexico. These communities suffered detrimental health effects, including cancer and infertility, due to exposure to radioactive fallout from the 1945 atomic bomb detonation. The plaques will be placed at White Sands Missile Range, Holloman Air Force Base, and White Sands National Park.
