Canyon’s Law prohibits the use of M–44 devices, commonly known as “cyanide bombs”, on public land. Federal, State, or county agencies must remove these devices from public land within 30 days of the Act's enactment. The Act defines M–44 devices as those designed to propel sodium cyanide when triggered by an animal. The law aims to prevent the indiscriminate harm to nontarget wildlife and people, including documented cases of accidental exposure to cyanide gas and injuries.
