The MERICA Act of 2025 amends the Mineral Leasing Act for Acquired Lands to expand its scope to include hardrock minerals. This includes minerals found in sedimentary or other rocks, base metals, precious metals, industrial metals, and precious and semi-precious gemstones. The Act modifies definitions and provisions to ensure the Mineral Leasing Act applies to these minerals, excluding coal, oil, oil shale, gas, sodium, potassium, and sulfur.
